No, students will not be receiving any remuneration / stipend for the duration of the training programme. Atvance Academy provides the students with SETA-accredited training for “free”, i.e. the student will not incur any cost.

Each student has a Sponsor who funds the costs of the training programme through Atvance Academy. To ensure that Atvance Academy maintains the quality of the training provided to the students, the sponsored funds are used to pay towards their education (course material, moderation, facilitation, facilitator, logistics, administrative support staff), thus assisting the student in acquiring the qualification. As such the student cedes the Sponsor funds to Atvance Academy to cover the training costs.

As our courses are SETA-accredited the student will receive both theoretical training and practical experience within the duration of the course with their facilitator. Therefore, upon completing the course, the student will have gained sufficient practical experience.

The primary difference between the Senior and Junior HSE Officer is the amount of on-the-job experience and training.

Should it be for a construction site, the HSE officer needs to be registered with the SACPCMP, (based upon their criteria) and the junior person may be in training “shadowing” and registered as a candidate H&S officer while undertaking activities under the senior person’s direct mentorship / guidance.

The ultimate responsibility will still be with the senior OHS Officer.

Both persons fulfil an advisory role.
